Air fryer Turkish bread

Posted on September 15, 2025

Making Turkish bread (often called “pide” or “bazlama”) in an air fryer is a quick and delicious way to get soft, fluffy bread with a lightly crispy crust. Here’s a simple recipe and method tailored for an air fryer.

🍞 Air Fryer Turkish Bread (Bazlama Style)

✅ Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 tsp instant dry yeast

  • 1/2 tsp sugar

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 3/4 cup warm water (not hot)

  • 2 tbsp plain yogurt (optional – for softness)

  • 1 tbsp olive oil (plus more for brushing)

🥣 Instructions:

1. Make the Dough

  1. In a large bowl, mix:

    • Warm water

    • Sugar

    • Yeast
Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy (if using active dry yeast).

  2. Add flour, salt, yogurt (if using), and olive oil.

  3. Mix and knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth.

  4. Cover and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

2. Shape the Bread

  1. Once risen, divide the dough into 2–4 balls depending on size.

  2. Roll each ball into a round flatbread (about 1/2 inch thick).

  3. Optionally: use your fingers to press traditional patterns (like concentric circles or a rectangle with lines).

3. Air Fry the Bread

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 180°C / 350°F for 3–5 minutes.

  2. Brush the top of the bread with olive oil or melted butter.

  3. Place one bread (or more if your fryer is large) in the basket.

  4. Cook for 6–8 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and puffed.

    • Cooking time varies by air fryer model and size of bread.

  5. Repeat with remaining dough.

🧄 Optional Toppings

  • Sprinkle with sesame or nigella seeds before cooking

  • Brush with garlic butter after cooking

  • Serve with hummus, olive oil, or use as a wrap
