Fried Cheese Stuffed Doritos

Posted on September 18, 2025

Here’s a bold, cheesy, snack-attack-worthy recipe for Fried Cheese-Stuffed Doritos — crunchy on the outside, gooey on the inside. Think mozzarella sticks meet Doritos… and then get deep-fried or air-fried.

🔥 Fried Cheese-Stuffed Doritos

🧀 What is it?

Cheese cubes (usually mozzarella or cheddar) are coated in crushed Doritos, then fried or air-fried until crispy and melty inside.

🍽 Makes: ~12 bites

⏱ Total Time: ~30 minutes (plus 30 min freeze time)

📝 Ingredients

  • 8 oz block mozzarella or cheddar (cut into ¾–1″ cubes)

  • 1 bag of Doritos (Nacho Cheese or flavor of choice)

  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1/4 cup milk

  • Oil (for deep frying or spray for air fryer)

👨‍🍳 Instructions

1. Prep the cheese

  • Cut cheese into bite-sized cubes.

  • Place on a tray and freeze for 30–60 minutes — this helps them not melt too fast when frying.

2. Crush the Doritos

  • Add Doritos to a food processor or crush in a zip-top bag until finely crushed (breadcrumb texture).

  • Place in a shallow bowl.

3. Set up the breading station

In three separate bowls:

  • Bowl 1: Flour

  • Bowl 2: Beaten eggs + milk

  • Bowl 3: Crushed Doritos

4. Coat the cheese

  • Dredge each cheese cube in flour → then egg wash → then coat with crushed Doritos.

  • For best results: double dip in egg + Doritos to ensure a thick crust.

5. Freeze again (optional but recommended):

  • Freeze coated cheese bites for another 15–30 minutes to help keep cheese inside during frying.

🍳 Frying Options

🔥 Deep Fry:

  • Heat oil to 350°F (175°C).

  • Fry cheese bites in batches for 30–45 seconds until golden and crispy.

  • Drain on paper towels and let cool slightly before eating.

💨 Air Fry:

  • Preheat air fryer to 375°F (190°C).

  • Spray bites with oil and place in a single layer.

  • Air fry for 6–8 minutes, flipping halfway. Watch closely so cheese doesn’t ooze out.

✅ Tips & Variations

  • Use Flamin’ Hot Doritos for a spicy version.

  • Try pepper jack or smoked gouda for a flavor twist.

  • Serve with ranch, marinara, or spicy mayo dipping sauces.

  • For extra crunch, add panko breadcrumbs to the Doritos coating.
